Make the Fed Web Better

|
A National Dialogue on Improving Federal Websites is happening online through September 30.

Submit an idea, discuss and vote for ideas, and help the federal government bring improved Web services to the public!

The Smithsonian Institution and other government agencies invite us to celebrate the profound contribution Hispanic Americans have made to our country: September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month. The Hispanic Heritage Month Web site explains why those dates were chosen:

"The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period."

UMUC's Office of Diversity Initiatives has been observing Hispanic Heritage Month for a number of years with specially made posters.

UMUC's Heritage Month Series is a celebration of diversity throughout the year!

For those of you in the Washington DC area or plan to be in the area on September 24 & 25, be sure to check out the National Book Festival sponsored by the Library of Congress.

This two day free event on the National Mall features over 100 authors and pavilions featuring all genres of literature as well as activities and books for children and the whole family.
