lifehacker.com reviews the Five Best Book Recommendation Services, Web sites that help you decide what book to read next.

Get rankings, reviews, and recommendations from thousands of book lovers who contribute to the sites. Some of the book-recommendation Web sites (like LibraryThing) also allow you to catalog and review the books in your home library.

Once you've decided on your next book, get your library barcode and search our library catalog. You may be able to borrow your next good read from us!

Use the National Library of Medicine's free Household Products Database to find information on more than 10,000 brand names. You can find out what chemicals are used in specific brands, what are the possible health effects of the chemicals, and much more. The database can be searched by product category, brand name, manufacturer, ingredient, and health effects.
. . . is easier now, thanks to the African Journal Archive. The Archive is part of a non-profit project to promote African libraries and information services. Using the Archive, you can access free, full-text articles from African scholarly journals.

From the Archive Web site:

"The African Journal Archive is a retrospective digitisation project of full-text journal articles published in Africa, in the Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, providing access to a multi-disciplinary, multi-country digital archive of Africa's research and cultural heritage contained in its journal literature."
