Miep Gies, 1909-2010

|

miep2.jpgMiep Gies, the woman who risked her own life to hide Anne Frank and her family during World War II, and who saved Anne Frank's diary for posterity, died on January 11. She was 100 years old.

Miep Gies always denied being a hero; instead, she said she was an ordinary person doing her duty to help others.

You can request her autobiography, Anne Frank Remembered: The Story of Miep Gies, Who Helped to Hide the Frank Family, as well as Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl, through our library.
